It was a nearly perfect fall day. We went out for a drive and picnic lunch on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The weather was gorgeous, the company was fun, and it wasn’t as crowded on the overlooks and parkway as we thought it would be. The only thing that stopped it from being perfect was that in many areas the leaves weren’t at their peak in terms of color.

It was a great way to end another beautiful and colorful weekend, that included a colorful crowd at dinner Saturday night. When we were looking for a restaurant that didn’t have a long wait for dinner, we walked into what looked like a Halloween/birthday party at one of the local bars downtown. We’d heard they had great cocktails and sandwiches and had already considered it as one of our options so we stuck around even though we couldn’t really hear each other. It was loud but it was fun! The cocktails were good, and the food was good, but it was fun to watch the crowd and even sing along to the 90s soundtrack that was playing on the jukebox. There seemed to be a theme with at least half the crowd and I couldn’t figure out what it was. Then on our way out S asked if he could take a picture because we had been admiring their costumes, and they asked me to join them. They asked if I remembered Lisa Frank and suddenly it all made sense. It might be hard to tell from the picture, but you can definitely see that I must have stuck out like a sore thumb in that room.
Beautiful colours this time of the year 🙂
