Music Fridays: Most of All

Every time I hear this song I think of my dad. I love the opening lines:

I haven’t seen my father in some time
But his face is always staring back at me

People have always told me I look just like my dad. When you’re young, and a girl, you’re not exactly happy to hear that. But over time I’ve come to accept that fact and appreciate it. It’s just one of the things I inherited from my dad. A love of music, photography, good food, are a few others.

It’s Father’s Day this weekend, and the first for us since our father passed away last fall. I’ll be thinking about him this weekend, and about all all those who have lost a parent, or a sibling. Another verse in this song is about mothers. I’m not very close with mine, but over the last year we have talked more, even if it’s just via text, with an occasional phone call. It’s a start. If the last year has taught us anything, it’s to let things go, forgive, appreciate the ones you love, and most of all, tell them how you feel.

I will also look for a great Reuben sandwich and carry on my dad’s search for the best one around.
