Why I Write

Because I want to know how to write
And how to be
Because it’s hard
And yet sometimes so easy
Because each line that draws my eye is beautiful
And unique
Because my mind wanders
And takes me places I want to explore
Because I want to spend less time with screens
And more on pages
Because I was sad and angry for so long
And I am no more
Because there’s so much I want to say
And I’d rather not speak
Because the words don’t want to stay unheard
And only in my head
Because when I try to speak my emotions get the best of me
And my tongue ends up in knots
Because I want to be seen
And I want to be understood
Because sometimes a picture can’t tell the whole story
And a thousand words isn’t enough.
