Tuesday

My day started out with a trip to the car dealership for its annual service appointment. When I got there though the service manager suggested I come back after my next road trip. I’ve barely put any miles on the car since I was there a year ago, so I appreciated him looking out for me. So I will go back in a couple of weeks and they can change the oil and filters while I’m in Virginia. At least while I was out I got a chance to stop in at the coffee shop for a latte and cardamom roll. It was worth the calories but maybe had a touch too much cardamom. Left a strange taste in my mouth.

I haven’t been grocery shopping in a while, mostly because I haven’t been doing a lot of cooking, but also because I wasn’t home for a few days and I will be out of town again at the end of the week. But as it started getting down to eggs and PB&J sandwiches as my lunch and dinner options, I realized I had some pork chops in the freezer I bought ages ago for a recipe I never made. So I took it out of the freezer yesterday morning and decided today would be the day I finally make the pork chops from the Venice episode of Somebody Feed Phil.

If you haven’t made these yet, I do recommend them. They are very tasty, but make sure you are prepared when you pour the vinegar on the pork chops near the end — maybe turn the exhaust fan on …. The vinegar leaves a bit of an aftertaste on your tongue (again!) but overall it was a satisfying and delicious dinner.

Yesterday I shared a photo of the tulips on my dining table. I think they were still adjusting to a new environment and they were drooping quite a bit, but today they’re perking up.

I bought jelly beans for the first time in years this weekend. I might not even have eaten any since I worked in an office and grabbed jelly beans from the department’s snack supply. But a bag caught my eye while I was in Target the other day and I couldn’t resist. No aftertaste here. 🙂
