So it’s been fourteen days now.
I have been good and resisted the urge to check in. But actually, it hasn’t been as hard as I expected it to be. I’ve noticed that I don’t spend as much time on the computer anymore. I don’t go to the laptop as soon as I get home. I’m still checking Twitter and Instagram on my phone way too often, and I do find I have to check email constantly, but I haven’t missed Facebook.
I’ve read two novels and two photography books. I’ve gone out twice with my camera looking for photo opportunities. I haven’t done as much as I hoped to but I’m not giving up yet. I’ve purchased note cards and Christmas cards. I won’t be sending Christmas greetings through Facebook this year. We’re actually going to write out some cards and put them in the mail.
I’ve even called my mother.
I deleted my Facebook account this past August and I haven’t looked back. I was spending WAY too much time on it and I was addicted. I had deactivated it twice before but this time, I knew I wanted it to be for good. I used to like Facebook, and enjoyed getting reunited with some long lost high school friends, but it started changing…. for the worst in my opinion. It became a platform for arguing and spreading negativity and I didn’t like that. I truly believe that Facebook causes depression in some people. It’s not for everybody.
