Music Fridays: Canción para Rubén

This week we’re back to the tropics with a collaboration by Carlos Vives and Rubén Blades, representing Colombia and Panama. It made me a little homesick and since I heard it I’ve only been playing Latin music, which was appropriate really because I was making picadillo for dinner and the Spanish words and Latin rhythms provided a good soundtrack.

After I watched this video I found this conversation between the two that was broadcast live last fall. I hope you speak (or at least understand) Spanish because it was a very interesting conversation between the two, during which they discuss music, the history shared by their two countries, and some of the projects they’ve worked on.

Have a great weekend!
