I couldn’t decide which way to go for this week’s musical post. Since it’s Valentine weekend, I knew I wanted some kind of love song. But as a single woman (and someone very much opposed to that idea just months ago), I knew it wouldn’t be a traditional love song.
I think the three songs I ended up choosing cover a broad range of emotions and attitudes. I’ll start you off with a repeat of sorts. One of my posts last fall included “If the world was ending” by JP Saxe and Julia Michaels. I just heard this cover by Kelly Clarkson (the queen of covers) and I love it so much it’s worth a repeat. The emotion in her voice … wow. I can relate, girl.
The second selection is another cover and one I found by accident when I was looking for something else. This is a cover of Ariana Grande’s “thank u, next” by Scary Pockets, featuring Rozzi. Great cover, and great message: gratitude and appreciation (for lessons learned from others and herself).
I end with the song I initially went looking for, New Radical’s “You Get What You Give,” covered by Scary Pockets featuring Laura Mace & Bill Wurtz.
You’ve got the music in you
Don’t let go
You’ve got the music in you
One dance left
This world is gonna pull through
Don’t give up
You’ve got a reason to live
Can’t forget
We only get what we give
