Music Fridays: Oh My God

That’s what I was thinking as I watched the snow fall last weekend. Where did all this snow and sleet come from? Fortunately I didn’t have to go anywhere and I enjoyed the weekend hibernating in my nest. As I wrote before, I spent a lot of time baking.

I don’t remember what I was doing at the time, but it occurred to me in the middle of doing something earlier this week that my posts on Instagram are kind of all over the place. It was probably while I was evaluating some of the social media posts I do for my 9-5 job and coming up with some goals for the year. I think I do a pretty good job of developing a social media plan and sticking to the planned aesthetic, but I don’t follow my own advice very well when it comes to this site. I haven’t been very organized and I’ve been using my personal social media accounts to promote this blog, knowing that many (if not most or all) of the people that follow me on social care nothing about the blog and just ignore that type of content. And that’s fine. But I do care about growing this site.

So I spent some time thinking about it and decided to create an Instagram account for the blog. It’s something to do that is not baking and therefore I won’t be eating a bunch of sweets I don’t need plus it could help the blog. I set up the account, created some templates on Canva, and before I got around to posting my first couple of pictures I already had my first follower! Granted, it was my daughter who must have stumbled upon it by accident, but yay! I will use this account to follow other like accounts and see if I can get any of them to follow me back here. It makes me happy every time I get a notification of a new follower, or a like or comment. But as much as I will admit I like that type of attention, I’m writing and sharing what I write because I think it’s fun. I like the writing aspect, I love creating the graphics and design elements, and I particularly enjoy the organizing and planning aspects of managing the blog and the tools I use. Yes, I’m quite the nerd. So, if you’re on Instagram I hope you’ll follow me over there. You know I’m looking forward to seeing you there and I’ll follow you back!

This week I’m sharing Adele’s latest single, “Oh My God.” Great album, beautiful voice, just an amazing artist. Enjoy and have a great weekend!
