Meet Ron

Weekly Writing Challenge Prompt: Iconic

Have you met Ron yet? Maybe you know him by his full name: Oberon Ale. He hails from the Bell’s Brewery family, and every year his arrival on March 25 heralds the real first day of Spring.I haven’t known Ron for very long. Until just a few years ago, I thought that Corona was everyone’s summer companion. My husband introduced me to Ron when he brought him along with us on our summer vacation to Emerald Isle in 2010. He had been on the lookout for his arrival for weeks and as soon as he spotted him he was quick to grab him before others had a chance to take him home with them.

I can’t wait to take him to the beach with us again this year. I have come to look forward to his arrival every year and I’m always sorry to see him go. I am now one of the faithful for whom the sight of the distinctive Oberon label means that spring is here and summer is right around the corner. And it’s about time.
